Cynthia Portalatin (formerly Lamb) has been writing since her grandmother gifted her with her first diary at the age of seven... penning poems, songs, cartoons, and short stories in her teens, she went on to earn Bachelor's Degrees in Print Journalism and Honors Spanish from Southern A&M Univeristy (1993). A native New Yorker, she has also lived in New Jersey, Pennsylvania, North & South Carolina, Virginia, Louisiana, Puerto Rico, and Florida.
She published in weekly and daily newspapers, as well as state and federal publications. After a 20-year federal career in Public Relations and Advocacy & Outreach with the U.S. Department of Agriculture, she embarked on new creative projects. Since then she has published, "Bloom Forever - A Poetry Journal" containing over 25 years of her penned poetry (February 2013). Her short story "When Love Hurts" and a poem were published in the e-book anthology "Truth Awaits You on the Other Side: An Anthology about the Consequences of Sin" (December 2014).
Current creative projects include an inspirational photo book "Light's Journey" (Date TBA), freelance writing and copyediting, designing greeting cards, and painting her signature flowers on canvas. Her most recent creative projects include adapting a Christmas short story into a play and cowriting and coproducing season one of the webseries "Tallahassee Legal" with Director Summer Hill Seven (soon to be launched on YouTube and Poemedy.TV).
A member of two Big Bend Poets (since 2015) and Tallahassee Authors Network (since 2009), Cynthia lives with her daughter and Jack Russell Terrier mix in Tallahassee, Florida where she enjoys participating in local literacy and art fairs, open mike events and poetry readings.
